confessions of a beet craver
Warsaw is full of great restaurants--who knew?--and I've been enjoying the variety of cuisines: Thai, Indian, TexMex, salads--none of which are available in Kiev. But I must admit that today I found myself craving beets! I eat at least two servings a day in Ukraine, and I've become very attached to them: as soup, as appetizer (shredded), even as dessert (in a honey sauce with raisins). Fortunately, I stopped for lunch at a polonized doner kebab stand, and got a big plate of falafel (another delicacy you can't get in Ukraine) with cabbage and beets (both sweet and pungent) on the side. I know, it sounds gross, but it was so, so good!
Logging off from Warsaw; I fly back on Wednesday. As Borat would say, "Dzienkuje!"-- yes, his famous log off is in fact Polish!
