the worst job in warsaw...
HAS to be guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in February. Temps are just above 0 fahrenheit, and the poor fellows can't move!
A quiet, pretty spot in the city center. The poet Adam Miczkewicz and a church (there's one on practically every block).
Spent more of today inside since it's so cold. Caught "The Lives of Others," an amazing film about the East German secret service, at the movie theatre in the Palace of Culture--one of the more memorable movie experiences I've had. Although I'm living in a constant state of language confusion (the Russian-Ukrainian pidgen dialect spoken in Kiev isn't helping), which leaves me unable to speak properly in any language (including English), I'm at least proud of my compehension skills for not missing a blow in a complex movie in German with Polish subtitles!
Highlight number two: deciding that it's time for a change, I walked into a random hair salon and let a Polish man with a mohawk change my 'do! (As a matter of principle, I refuse to cut my hair in Ukraine, where the mullet lives.) It's very edgy and eastern European, kind of a piecy bob with the back completely razed! But at this rate, no one will ever see it, since it looks like I'll still be wearing a hat for a while.

Hey Faith,
Warsaw looks like fun, although cold! I can't believe your water bottle froze. Here, it seems almost like spring already. Temperatures are probably in the 50s. Jealous you got to see "Lives of Others." It hasn't made it to KZ yet.
