evening cruise

Beautiful sunshine, a nice breeze, and a boatload of Finns getting drunk: what could be more fun? By my count, the ninety-minute trip included seven references to saunas!

Sailing out of Helsinki harbor:


Suomenlinna, an island fortress built by the Swedes to guard against the Russians. The submarine is from World War II, "when we were fighting against the Soviet Union," they euphemistically say. Oops--not very pc!

Sailing out to the Gulf of Finland, which they say freezes solid in the winter!

Sailing back to Helsinki:
